Welcome to the British Council United Arab Emirates website.
As the UK’s international organisation for education and culture, we seek to make a lasting difference to the communities where we work. We have been a committed partner to the United Arab Emirates for the last 60 years, helping to introduce young men and women here to a wide range of cultural and educational opportunities available with the UK.
We are on the ground in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, where our English language centres offer courses to over 10,000 students annually. We are also proud to deliver over 130,000 UK qualifications annually helping to further learning among young Emiratis and UAE residents looking to develop their professional skills or travel abroad.
We are always looking to improve and expand our work and we are proud to have opened our new teaching centre in Al Bateen, Abu Dhabi. Learning needs the right environment to flourish and these new teaching premises are twice as large as before and mean that we can offer students total flexibility – with a choice between 1, 2, 3 or 5 classes per week. Our goal is to make sure that students who come through our door leave us speaking English with confidence.
In 2017 we are celebrating the UK/UAE 2017 Year of Creative Collaboration, under the co-patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales.
In all our work building relationships between the UK and UAE, we are committed to equality, inclusion, and valuing diversity. You can learn more about our approach and values here.
