British designers Fredrikson Stallard present Prologue, a monumental sculpture holding over 8,000 amber-coloured Swarovski crystal droplets mimicing the golden sun. The installation can be seen at Dubai Design Week 2017.

Let’s talk Design! 

The UAE’s  Design industry has been growing quickly year on year. This year with the launch of the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation, the opening of the architectural marvel, the  Louvre Abu Dhabi, and Dubai Design Week 2017 opening design is in the forefront of the UAE public’s minds. 

We were proud to present a myriad of design related projects as part of the UK/UAE 2017 Year of Creative Collaboration from the Abu Dhabi Art Pavilion Prize to the keynote speaker at Dubai Design Week 2017, renowned architect, Sir David Adjaye OBE, and many more.

A total of 8 design events - 2 talks, 5 exhibitions and 1 installation - were presented throughout the autumn season. Below is more information on each event.

Curated by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, In the Making captures objects mid-manufacture and puts the aesthetic of the unfinished centre stage, varying from the £2 coin to a tennis ball. The exhibition is on until 11 February, 2017 at Warehouse421 ©


One of the world’s most influential architects and designers, Sir David Adjaye , took to the Dubai Design Week stage on 13 Nov in conversation with renowned commentator Sultan Sooud Al Qassemi, launching Dubai Design Week’s largest-ever programme of talks and workshops. 
A panel discussion took place on 9 Nov, presented by Abu Dhabi Art, the British Council and the Royal Institute of British Architects, Gulf Chapter (RIBA) on the Award and wider architectural themes. The talk featured Head of Architecture at The Department of Tourism & Culture - Abu Dhabi, Mark Kyfinn, and the ADA Pavilion prize winners moderated by Sumaya Dabbagh, Chair of RIBA, Gulf Chapter. 
GraphicsRCA: Fifty Years and Beyond tells the story of the rich history of graphic design at the Royal College of Art and illustrates how, for the past half century, the RCA has been at the forefront of all major developments in graphic communication.You can see the exhibition at Dubai Design Week. ©
