Celebrating Film

Film has the power to foster mutual understanding between people across cultures and can help to build open and more interconnected communities. It is a medium which reflects how a nation perceives itself and is perceived by others.

As part of the UK/UAE 2017 Year of Creative Collaboration we are proud to use this effective medium  for communication to  present two significant film projects, The UK/UAE Short Film Festival: Cultural Exchange Through Film and The UK Spotlight at the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF). Through these projects we are able to reach out to communities across the UAE and inspire the next generation of film-makers whilst building awareness of the UK film industry.

A “Celebrating Culture Through Film” Symposium took place on 12 November which saw UK film makers, Shola Amoo, Caroline Barleet and Mike Forshaw and UAE Film makers, Nayla Khaja and Nawaf Al Janaji in conversation with industry professionals.
A week-long roadshow featured screenings of eight short films by British and Emirati emerging and established film makers in  Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and Al Ain.
The UK Spotlight at DIFF is an initiative which aims to connect film professionals from the UK and the Arab world to exchange information, expertise and experience and to build future collaboration. ©
