A message from our Country Director
I’m delighted to be joining the British Council in the United Arab Emirates as Country Director.
The UK and UAE have a long history of collaboration across education, culture and the creative industries, and I’m looking forward to building on these connections and creating new opportunities for people and institutions to work together.
The UAE is a dynamic and internationally connected country, with a strong ambition to develop its education, cultural and creative sectors. This creates exciting opportunities for the British Council to bring people and organisations together, share knowledge and ideas, and develop new partnerships between the UK and UAE.
Across Arts, Education and English, our work is about creating connections that have a lasting impact, from supporting education and professional development, to creating opportunities for artists and cultural organisations, and helping people access English language teaching and assessment.
I join the UAE from Hong Kong, where I served as British Council Director from 2022 to 2026. Before that, I held a number of leadership and partnership roles across North-East Asia, following a career in higher education in the UK and Australia.
I’m looking forward to getting to know our partners, colleagues and communities across the UAE, and to working together to strengthen the connections between our two countries.
