Our policy on refunds and test date transfers is outlined below.

Requesting a refund

If you want to cancel your IELTS registration, you must download the IELTS request for refund or date transfer form below, fill it in and send to us at the latest five weeks before the date of your written test.

You will then receive a refund of the test fee less the administration fee of AED 265. We will pay the refund by bank transfer or cheque.

Requesting a test date transfer

If you want to transfer your test date, you must download the IELTS request for refund or date transfer form below, fill it in and send to us at the latest five weeks before the date of your written test.

You will need to pay the administration fee of AED 265.

Exceptional circumstances

To cancel your registration or transfer your test date within five weeks of the date of your written test, you must demonstrate that your ability to take the test has been affected by one of the following: 

  • serious illness or injury, such as requiring hospital admission (minor illnesses and colds not included)
  • loss of an immediate family member
  • hardship or trauma, such as being a victim of crime or a traffic accident
  • military service.

Your test centre must receive your application for cancellation or transfer of registration within two working days (48 hours) of your written test date, along with evidence of the exceptional circumstances (including the original of any official document).

Refunds following remarking

If you submit an Enquiry on Results in order to have your test remarked, you will receive a full refund if the mark improves and no refund if the mark remains the same.
