Cancelling your IELTS test
In line with UAE government announcements on Covid-19 regulation, all IELTS test sessions until at least 5 June 2020 are suspended. We will restart testing as soon as UAE Government regulations allow. We have opened booking now for future test dates from 6 June 2020 onwards. For further updates, click here
Due to the current office closures, we are experiencing severe delays in processing times. We regret the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
If you cancel your IELTS test up to five weeks before the test date, you will receive a refund minus an administration fee of 25% of the test fee.
Please note that refunds can take four to six weeks to process.
To cancel your test date, please download and complete our Request for Refund or Test Date Transfer Form here and send it by email. (Please note that you need to sign the form.) You can find the documents below in the download section.
If an original medical certificate confirming illness on the date of the test is provided within five working days of the test date, together with the Request for Refund or Test Date Transfer Form, the fee is refundable, minus an administration fee of 25% of the test fee.
Only original medical certificates in local language or English are accepted. If we have not received both required documents at any of our offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai or Sharjah by the fifth working day after the test, you will be marked as absent and forfeit all claims.
Copies sent by fax are not accepted. We recommend sending the medical certificate by email along with the Request for Refund or Test Date Transfer Form. Please note that we do not accept sick notes issued by family members.
Requesting a test day transfer
Candidates may transfer test dates if they notify the test centre more than five weeks before the elected test date. The centre may charge an administrative fee to transfer test dates (no more than 25% of the test fee). If the candidate’s application is approved, the candidate must select a test date within the next three-month period and this will be approved by the Administrator depending on availability for the selected test date. If a candidate wishes to transfer to a test date more than three months away, they should apply for a refund and then re-apply for the test.
In cases of illness, transfer is possible within five weeks of the test if an original medical certificate is provided within five working days of the test date, together with the Request for Refund or Test Date Transfer Form.
If you receive a transfer to a new test date (either before the test or due to illness) and are ill on the second test date, then you are not entitled to a refund of the test fee nor to any further transfer to a new test date.
