The Welsh National Opera will be performing Giacomo Puccini's La Bohème at Dubai Opera
Welsh National Opera will be performing one of the world’s most beloved Giacomo Puccini operas, La Bohème for the first time in Dubai.
La Bohème, set in Paris in the 1830s, tells the story of a young poet, Rodolfo, as he falls in love with a seamstress, Mimi. Based on the book by Henri Murger, La Vie de Bohème, one of Italy’s greatest composers, Puccini’s opera is a beautiful and poignant reminder of the fragile nature of the human heart and love. Annabel Arden’s sensitive and insightful production, first performed by Welsh National Opera in 2012, combines an atmospheric set with Puccini’s sublime and evocative score, and takes us on a heart-stopping journey of love and loss.
The WNO celebrate their 70th anniversary this year, and as part of the UK/UAE Year or Cultural Collaboration, their first performance at Dubai Opera promises to be a must-see event for all music and culture lovers from across the GCC and beyond.
The British Council will also be supporting a programme of learning activities with Welsh National Opera including workshops, master classes and open rehearsals.
Welsh National Opera (WNO) is the national opera company for Wales. They presents award winning performances of fully staged opera and concerts which combine a sense of adventure with the highest possible quality.
Dubai Opera are presenting productions of Puccini’s Madam Butterfly and La Bohème performed by the Welsh National Opera in their new venue, the city’s first purpose built multi-format performing arts theatre, situated in the heart of Downtown Dubai.
